Tournament Diary

This is Colin's account of the ACC Tournament from inside the MCI Center. Here's what happened yesterday morning. Expect the afternoon experience a little later today.

*********

ACC TOURNAMENT DIARY - Friday

6:30 - Rise. Co-worker thrilled that I can occupy space in the car, thus enabling us to take HOV lane to work. We vigorously taunt the cop at the side of the highway, monitoring HOV-rules compliance.

8:30 - in office, busy self with doc production management and MPRE study (this sucks, so we’ll move on)

11:00 - haven't had time to scalp tickets - will just go to EspnZone, hope for Heels win and to get tix for tomorrow.

11:10 - Former law school classmate calls, says a UNC-grad co-worker has extras. I bicker some about the price, and I'm in.

11:40 - Walking to the MCI Center, I se a whole lot of folks looking to buy, very few looking to sell. Face value for the afternoon session, with my 200-level tickets: $65. I’m not saying anything illegal is going on, but some people might have paid a lot more than face value. My tix are in the Virginia section, opposite the benches, not far from mid-court. Oddly, no Virginia fans in sight.

11:55 - Why all the Dukies? They don't even play until the evening session, but Duke crap is everywhere. Don't the trust-fund babies have jobs? Like, being executors of each other's trusts or something?

12:00 tip-off - May scores nine points in the first few minutes. Heels look good. I am feeling omnipotent.
