Jim Cramer's MAD MONEY and RADIO recap

On YouTube, Charges of Security Flaws - Ex-Lockheed Worker Takes Concerns Over Coast Guard Ships to the Web

He Made What?!?! Shocking 2005/06 NBA Salary...
22 hours ago in Lit’s Controversial Sports Chanting:
"In my Internet travels I have encountered many interesting things. One thing I always find..."

The Conference Headlines:

ACC Notebook :"Wake's Moore looking good in preseason camp........"

Dascenzo: Thoughts before big weekend :"Some things worth thinking about in the world of sports ... * North Carolina football coach John Bunting said he always thought his season-opening opponent, Rutgers on Saturday at 3:30 in Kenan Stadium, was a sleeping giant..." I'm sure you do, John......I'm sure you do.

The coaches speak:"Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden spoke with the media Wednesday as part of the first teleconference of the season for ACC coaches. Of course, questions about FSU's game at Miami on Monday were on most writers' minds."

Coker: 'We're moving in the right direction' »

Olson working on keeping UM offense in drive mode:"The license plate on Rich Olson's Porsche reads "OLEDOG," and even though it's a play on his last name, the tag's pronunciation is a perfect fit for how Miami's coaches and players view their new, yet old offensive coordinator."

Great expectations for Canes linebacker Beason:"UM's Jon Beason -- the team's defensive leader -- is determined to get the Hurricanes started in the right direction, beginning with Monday's opener against FSU."

Miami's Shields is not bashful about his talent »

`Be a little afraid': "THE JUNIOR LINEBACKER, WHO ALREADY RAISED EYEBROWS IN RESERVE, IS POISED FOR A STANDOUT SEASON. Lawrence Timmons really shouldn't have to feel that uncomfortable about it. After all, they are his initials. Then again, Timmons is a linebacker. And if you ever want to put the weight of excessive expectations on a linebacker, toss the ''LT'' moniker around."

Florida State's starting lineup is taking form »

Bob Lipper of the Richmond Times Dispatch- Questions appear to leave Virginia Tech short of a title answer.

CHANGE OF PACE:"Hokies set to reap benefits of attitude adjustment by former 'knucklehead' OreBLACKSBURG Branden Ore is a 5-11, 202-pound sophomore who averaged 5.9 yards per carry last season in a reserve role for the Hokies. He's operating this year with a surgically repaired right shoulder. He's also operating with a repaired attitude."

Avoiding a trip on road:"Tonight, for the third year in a row, the Boston College football team opens its season on the road."

Tigers suspend Gaddis, Clay’s status in doubt:"Clay leaves team after sister dies in car accident, sets no timetable for return. Clemson will be without one of its defensive starters Saturday and is planning to replace another for contrasting reasons."

Clemson foe Florida Atlantic faces growing pains in second season

AS GOOD AS GOLD: Georgia Tech foe, Notre Dame's Darius Walker , rushed for 2,406 yards as a senior at Buford in 2003 and broke the Georgia state record with 46 rushing TDs while leading the Wolves to three straight state titles.

Walker coming home to Georgia: "Darius Walker grew up idolizing the usual suspects for a promising young running back. "

Mismatches Pad the Record, Pay the Bills -- and the Marys

Ned Barnette of the Raleigh News and Observer - Decision helps Tar Heels now and in future: " The season opener is still days away, but North Carolina football coach John Bunting and new offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti already have combined for a smart call. "

Rutgers history: long, undistinguished: "Even a guy from the Garden State wasn't sure why there's no such thing as the University of New Jersey." Tar Heels, beware.

More on Jesse Holley's hurt feelings - INDIGNANT: North Carolina's Holley is annoyed that hometown Rutgers didn't recruit him

Shoulder surgery sidelines Heels' TE:"The North Carolina football team has lost another key contributor to a serious injury. Backup tight end Richard Quinn, who figured to see significant action on offense and special teams Saturday against Rutgers in UNC's season opener, suffered a fractured right shoulder blade during a blocking drill in Tuesday's practice and could miss the entire 2006 season." Not good.......

Lowery new defensive leader for Pack:"Chuck Amato believes Pat Lowery could own some ACC wrestling championship rings if he chose that route in college."

A Tough Dude: Amato says Lowery is the toughest player on the N.C. State team

REPRIEVE FOR STEVE? Wake's Justice may get help from freshman backup

All hands on deck: "Fontel Mines and Kevin Ogletree will start for UVa in the opener and look to overcome the loss of injured Deyon Williams."

Finally, just a QB :"After years of playing several positions, sophomore set to lead Devils. Marcus Jones' first high school football coach was told recently that Jones would start for Duke this season. David Bibee's response: "At which position?"" We wish you well. Perhaps you are the key to unlocking Duke's football fortunes.

Duke RB leaned on family, team after Katrina:"When hurricanes threatened her hometown -- but rarely carried out the threat -- Shirley Griffin would ask for time off at work and evacuate the area with the safety of her young son in mind. "

Other news of ACC Interest:

Redick to plead guiltyFormer Duke star facing DWI charge.

Steelers secure Parker:"Super Bowl star, a former UNC back, signs $13.6 million, four-year deal." The Steelers will pay $13 Million for him to run for them, but he couldn't run for North Carolina. Brilliant! That will hang over Bunting for the rest of his career. Simply incredible that a coachin staff could totally miss on something like that.

UNC's Miller thrilled by Yankee Stadium debut

The BEST ACC Football Coverage!!!
PHOTO: So, will Tar Heel fans see the 'New' Dailey, or the same 'ol Nebraska version?

Getting your mind right:

Jim Cramer's MAD MONEY and RADIO recap.

U.S. basketball team now a fan favorite:"As the United States was rolling through play in the world championships, Dwyane Wade couldn't help but notice that something seemed missing."

The Conference Headlines:

Caulton Tudor of the Raleigh News and Observer - Pay attention: It's a new BCS: The powers that be have revised the Bowl Championship Series formula again, which is like saying 400 tons of mud have been dumped into the Mississippi River.

Big Four's bowl quests kick off Saturday:"Saturday just can't get here fast enough."

It's wide open this season: "every game counts -- also happens to be its beauty. No other major sport in America, pro or college, has a regular season as meaningful as college football." Yeah, but where the heck is our PLAYOFF system.

Omar Kelly's Hurricanes Blog - Hunkering Down: Paul Dee joked that Ernesto's approach was a clear sign that UM-FSU week is..." Get over there!

UM's Sharpe finally puts knee injuries, controversial call behind him :"Two tackles recorded Sunday during Miami's scrimmage might not seem like much for most starters. But when that defender hadn't hit anyone in close to three years, it's a monumental occurrence."

Ready to be Hurricanes' top option:"'I need to be one of those guys Kyle [Wright] knows he can lean on,' said Greg Olsen, UM's top returning active receiver with 726 yards and five touchdowns in two seasons."

For Miami quartet, loss to FSU still hurts »

Carr's secret is out: "After a rise from obscurity to second-team All-ACC, sophomore Greg Carr looks to improve -- starting with UM. A year ago, Greg Carr was hoping he could be something of a secret weapon against Miami. Didn't happen. The Hurricanes are a tough opening act for any freshman, and Carr didn't leave the sideline as Florida State sweated out a 10-7 triumph."

Health gives FSU's Frady a lift »

Family has fun with sibling rivalry:"They are the colors of Tallahassee's two colleges. But try wearing garnet and gold and orange and green in one ensemble."

For openers, Tigers return cake to menu:"FAU should provide young players a chance to get acclimated."

FAU’s talk makes things interesting for opener:"Gaddis’ status uncertain as Chancellor starts at corner in practice."

Young Eagles earning their wings:"When the Boston College football team released its depth chart last week for Thursday night's opener at Central Michigan, Eagles coach Tom O'Brien listed five redshirt freshmen (all on defense) and four true freshmen (two defense, two special teams) among the nine first-year players on his two-deep roster."

Whitworth back to the beginning:"L.V. Whitworth says it is going to be difficult to overcome his sense of deja vu when Boston College opens its 2006 football season ..... on the road (Mount Pleasant, Mich.) ..... against an unranked opponent from the Mid-American Conference (Central Michigan) ..... in a Thursday night game (6, ESPN2). "

SUSPECT DEFENSE :" One team has proved it can stop a good offense, and it isn't Notre Dame. One team seems equipped to win this hugely ballyhooed game, and it isn't Notre Dame."

Bradley: Tech's team better than Notre Dame: Slow down, Mr. Bradley.....slow down.

Tech aims to cook Quinn with pressure-"Georgia Tech proponents cite one particular piece of evidence for their optimism entering Saturday's season-opener against Notre Dame - the Yellow Jackets' pass rush. " Better turn the stove on now, coach.

Terps' Randolph Tagged to Start

Year at W&M gives Friedgen cause to pause:"Offensive coordinator faced challenges with shortage of quarterbacks, linemen."

Tar Heels turn to Dailey:" Coach John Bunting chooses Joe Dailey, who started 11 games for Nebraska in '04, over redshirt freshman Cam Sexton."

Opener 'personal' to Holley:"North Carolina receiver Jesse Holley says his main goal is to help his team win its season-opener on Saturday. But because the opponent is Rutgers, the New Jersey native has an extra incentive, as well."

Dascenzo: UNC's defense must deliver this time:"Among the annoying and disappointing numbers that draped North Carolina's football team last season -- other than the 5-6 finish -- was that second-half scoring." That Defense jumped from 101 to 60 something last year in their stats. Get in the top 40, and the Heels have a chance to make some noise (not real noise, but a very loud groan would be a good start).

Game on for Pack's Pressley

Pack duo ailing for opener:"Barrett, Lathan ruled questionable." Better get your minds right, Pack. The men from the Mountain are calling...

Mauk: Expect surprises, more wins for Wake : No surprise to us. Wake goes bowling this year and gets off to a fast start.

WANTING MORE: Grobe says Deacs need to step up

STEPPING UP:"Mines embraces leadership role for young Cavaliers."

Groh: Pitt looked like good foe for Cavaliers

Bob Lipper of the Times Dispatch - '06 schedule is Cavaliers' biggest ally: I just don't think it's going to help them this year. I have them 10th....perhaps 11th. They have a good middle stretch where they get UNC, Maryland, and NCSU at home, but I think they lose 2 of those games.

Cavs Could Celebrate Son's Day

We reported this yesterday, but hey, different day different paper reports the same news- Deacons lure basketball player from Wyoming:"Wake Forest received a commitment from one of the most versatile high school basketball players in the country on Monday when 6-foot-8 James Johnson announced he would join the Demon Deacons. The BEST ACC Football Coverage!!!

Getting your mind right:

Jim Cramer's MAD MONEY and RADIO recap

Hazing: the dark side of athletics:"Though the coverage of the Carolina Panthers hazing new players in the Aug."

NCAA, NBA May Unite:"Myles Brand leaves open the possibility that the NCAA will work with the NBA and shoe companies to improve amateur basketball." Finally....something that makes sense coming from the NCAA.

The Conference Headlines:

Defenses bare, ACC tries to restock:"Little-used players have big shoes to fill after mass exodus to NFL."

Checking off on the ACC:"Scan over the offenses and defenses and get a read on what's new for 2006."

COACHES UNDER PRESSURE:"According to Mr. College Football, Tony Barnhart, Miami's Larry Coker ranks high on the list of coaches who'll start feeling heat if they don't fare well in their season openers."

Andrew Jones of the Wilmington Star: Looking At Big 4's Opening Foes

Omar Kelly's Hurricanes Blog - Early Predictions: "Seven days to go until kickoff, unless Hurricane Ernesto throws salt in the..." Get over there!

Hurricanes hope Ernesto avoids them :" Miami could miss at least two practices as storm bears down on South Florida."

Harris can fulfill UM's need for speed :"Last year, Courtney Harris made a name for himself as the Hurricanes' most disruptive scout team performer. The defensive end was constantly applying pressure while working against UM's starting offensive line to prepare them for the upcoming week. "

UM's Moore won't practice:"Miami receiver Ryan Moore, who was suspended indefinitely Saturday for his involvement in an altercation with a woman, will not practice with the team until his legal troubles are resolved, school officials said."

'Canes might not miss Moore »

FSU ponders Miami:"Bobby Bowden has lost more games to Miami than any other team in his career as a college football head coach. The 20 losses, including one while at West Virginia, cover the spectrum of ways to lose a game."

Colzie knows Miami is the ultimate test »

Plenty of room at FSU seniors table :"One preseason Friday night every August, Bobby Bowden has the seniors over. His former secretary, Sue Hall, her husband and Bowden's wife Ann make an all-you-can-eat spread of surf-'n'-turf with homemade ice cream and banana pudding."

FSU's Booker eager to fulfill high expectations :"Lorenzo Booker knows what they're saying about him in California."

Freshman set to return punts:"Spiller listed as co-second string tailback in Tigers’ first depth chart of season."

Young linebackers at Clemson contend for more playing time:"Billie's loss puts others in spotlight."

Virginia Tech's White will have few fans in return home

Hokies make fresh start

Graves will redshirt for Hokies

BC freshman James McCluskey tries to bounce back from hamstring injury:" Over the last three months, James McCluskey has discovered the secret of college. "

Georgia Tech's Rudy's story is also inspirational:"Ru-dee, Ru-dee." The chant shocked Georgia Tech's Rudy Allen. Notre Dame had pounded the quarterback all afternoon. And here, on the last drive of the game, the Irish fans were taunting him? Were they howling for another sack?"

Nix, GT Offensive Coordinator, moving upstairs :"New offensive coordinator prefers to call plays from view in coaches' box."

Defense at Georgia Tech adjusts with Henderson gone

Tony Barnhart's all-time Georgia Tech team: That's a pretty good team!

Coach Greg Robinson of Syracuse said that Saturday's opening game at Wake Forest will provide the Orange with the opportunity to "show what we're all about." Yep...they will be all about taking home an "L".

Deacon of light:"Wake Forest players help build a school in war-torn Liberia."

U.Va. to face Pitt,'76 ghosts: "Panthers will honor 12-0 national champs from 30 years ago
The University of Virginia football team hopes the spirit of'76 doesn't inspire Pittsburgh to greatness Saturday night."

For Cavaliers' Father-Son Duo, Coaching Is Strictly Business

Duke ready to see other colors : "The Duke Blue Devils have spent countless hours in preseason practice making sure that come game day, they don't beat themselves. "

NEW ROUTINE: Blue Devils trying to shake things up

Dascenzo: Devils scared of Spiders? :"Normally a football season-opening game at home vs. the Richmond Spiders wouldn't concern any Division I-A school. Then again, Duke's an exception for the following reasons: "

Make it 4 straight-"Woods wins playoff despite shaky play down the stretch. For three straight holes in a playoff, Tiger Woods could only stand to the side of the green and watch someone else control his fate Sunday at the Bridgestone Invitational." Even when he's bad, he's really pretty good!

Dascenzo: Triangle hearts are in hoops

The Conference Headlines:

Omar Kelly's Hurricanes Blog: Making A MarkThere wasn't much space in the actual newspaper for UM stuff because of the..." Get over there!

'Noles- 'Canes tumult nearing:"The hype and anticipation have been building for months. And now, with the Florida State-Miami game a mere week away, the buzz is turning into a roar."

FSU has no time to play catch-up »

Hart: Miami's good for ACC »

Wright's aim: Finish among UM's elite :"Don't be mistaken, a caretaker he's not. Kyle Wright came to Miami to establish his own legacy at Quarterback U."

'Canes' Gooden is unmatched off field, eager to play : "When Miami's defense is huddled in a circle jumping up and down and screaming in unison, there's usually one player at the center of the ruckus."

UM's Moore to sit indefinitely : "Miami coach Larry Coker announced Saturday that senior wide receiver Ryan Moore has been indefinitely suspended from the team. "

Fun, sun in Florida: " Clemson would fulfill great expectations by earning a berth in the ACC title game in Jacksonville."

Hokie Defense not content at No. 1

Glennon: 'I know I can do this'

Noel: Hokies Been there, done that

Former Springers offensive star will play key role for Virginia Tech's defense

Fighting to return to field: "BC freshman tries to bounce back from hamstring injury."

AN AIR AFFAIR : "Georgia Tech star receiver Calvin Johnson (left, with teammate Pat Clark) will share the field and the spotlight with Notre Dame receiver Jeff Samardzija (77 catches last season) Saturday. Johnson had 54 catches last season"

Comparing pass catchers :"Tech's Johnson, Notre Dame's Samardzija may be the two best receivers in college football. "

Confident as a coordinator: "Despite only being 34, Tech assistant Patrick Nix believes in himself and the way he plans the offense."

George Solomon of the Washington Post - No Secret About the Name of the Game: "The big news out of College Park last week was the announcement that henceforth Byrd Stadium on the campus of the University of Maryland will be known as Chevy Chase Bank Field at Byrd Stadium."

Terps going deep:"A tough 12-game schedule will test a Friedgen team with more depth."

Terps coach Zacharias is learning on the run: "'I'm still a defensive coach trying to be a running backs coach'."

Lattimore Back in The Mix For Terps

From 'Star'(cevic) to a Supporting Role:"In Charlotte Catholic’s 2004 state championship win, Nick Starcevic carried the ball 22 times for 93 yards and two touchdowns en route to MVP honors. Last year at UNC, he touched the ball once – a one-yard touchdown run at Louisville. Good things tend to happen when he gets his hands on the ball, though that’s not his primary role anymore."

McGill's recipe for success :"Off the field, Ronnie McGill is quite a chef and plans the menus. On the field, the tailback hopes to become a 1,000-yard rusher and lead UNC to a bowl game. "

UNC's O-line has new mentality under Weber:"Mark Weber does more than preach a hard-hat mentality. He illustrates it with actual hard hats. "

Jim Cramer's MAD MONEY and RADIO recap

The Conference Headlines:

Big Lonny gets two months in the slammer for bustin' caps near the White House. Another recipient of the Basketblog's Fred G. Sanford award for stupidity.

Dascenzo: Season to start off with bang :"College football openers often excite me, but none more this season than Notre Dame's visit to Georgia Tech a week from Saturday."

Getting things started this am with the Great Omar Kelly's Hurricanes Blog - What Did U Miss? "My first REAL look at the Hurricanes since the spring game didn't leave me...". Get over there!

The fantastic State Fans Nation says that "Tarheels Love Talking about the Pack." It appears that UNC receiver Jesse Holley made some less than civil comments about the Pack,s schedule the last few years as compared to Carolina's. He said, comparatively speaking, it was a weak schedule . That's very true. He said NCSU played two handicapped schools. That's not nice. What he didn't say is that Bunting is 3-2 vs. Amato. That is also true. The story remains the same: NC State folks duck the COMPLETE truth about Amato and their football program, and Carolina football folks use the tough schedule and success against NC State to prop Bunting up. Both positions are an embarrassment, both schools need to play more reasonable schedules, and BOTH schools need to get off their collective, underachieving fannies and put a product on the field that is better than 5-6 or 6-5. At the end of the day, it comes down to "scoreboard." Bunting is 3-2 against Amato with a better two year conference record and Amato has been to 5 bowl games and won 4. Those are the bottom line facts. Get over there!!

Coker on the hot seat? It's not that the Miami Hurricanes lost their bowl in December. It's how they lost.

This dry spell just whets Miami fans' appetites for title:" Remember the good old days?" Thugs, shootings, rapes, murders.....ahh, the good 'ol days of Miami football.

Art Kehoe, Don Soldinger, Dan Werner and Vernon Hargreaves have moved on since being fired by Miami Jan. 2.: "Art Kehoe stands along the third-base line of a baseball park in this small, Mississippi college town. Dressed in a University of Mississippi golf shirt with a baseball cap pulled down low, he generally is minding his own business. "

Williams enrolls : "Willie Williams has found a place to play football. Williams, a former University of Miami linebacker, enrolled at West Los Angeles College -- a community college in the Western State Conference -- and practiced for the first time Tuesday." What a complete idiot.

Williams gives FSU NFL-level safety

Kress wants a great start

Rolle back after shoulder injury »

Out with injury, Billie plays the waiting game: "Decision to redshirt awaits progress of Clemson linebacker’s rehabilition

Hokies tight ends a young bunch

Jackets selective on special teams

Gailey arranges practice time for buddies

Terps Borrow Name: "Maryland agrees to a $20 million naming-rights deal with Chevy Chase Bank, a key component to the expansion of Byrd Stadium."

Linebacker Fokou's Efforts Earn Him a Maryland Scholarship

Seitz holds the key in goal for Terps

Bynum is the Key for Heels: All of North Carolina's football players this season have their sights set on a lot of wins, an ACC divisional title and a prestigious bowl game. None of the Tar Heels, however, wants those things more than Shelton Bynum, a senior defensive lineman in the last season of his college career.

QB spot still up for grabs at UNC:"The most discussed ongoing development at North Carolina this month has been its unsettled quarterback situation."

Davis rough, ready :"Having grown from a 160-pound freshman into a svelte 5-foot-10, 191-pound veteran, N.C. State cornerback A.J. Davis is stronger, faster and flashing a greater penchant for popping."

U.VA. NOTES from the Times Dispatch.

Groh acting as backup coach for linebackers

Lipsey likely to start at center for UVa.

Real Scrimmage: Grobe pleased with the performance of his team with 10 days left before season opener:" Wake Forest, going through its final rehearsal before its season opener, had a spirited scrimmage last night at Groves Stadium. When it was over, Coach Jim Grobe was all smiles."

Two more in-state players commit to Devils :"Duke's recruiting philosophy of making early commitments to football prospects has resulted in a pair of verbal commitments from in-state linebackers, one more North Carolina player than the Blue Devils' current 26-man freshman class contains."

Prosser is starting to hear balls bounce Deacs to have eight practices before their Labor Day journey

The Best ACC Sports Coverage!!!
PHOTO: North Carolina, the third best overall football program in the ACC? The Wall Street Journal seems to think so.

Getting Your Mind Right:

Jim Cramer's MAD MONEY and RADIO recap

TOM SORENSEN of the Charlotte Observer - Earnhardt Jr. acts know no consequences: "Dale Earnhardt Jr. has shown he can do anything on a race track except contend for a championship. There is no professional athlete like him in Charlotte or the Carolinas, and there might not be one in the United States." Yep...that's about right. It's why it amazed me that Carl Edwards was willing to put his career on the line getting in Jr's face last week after the spin out. Jr. just smiled at him.....fantastic. It only ended up costing him $20G, but it could have been a lot worse. Be smart, Carl.

'Champions' to get swank seats at RBC:"A new 330-seat "Champions Club" at the RBC Center will feature all-you-can-eat gourmet dining, four free glasses of beer or wine, and a private lounge with flat-screen televisions." Nice!

For Red Bull, It's Here, There and Everywhere: "Energy Drink Maker Corners the Marketing." Great read!

The Conference Headlines:

Have degree; will transfer- "Rule allows grads play final year without wait." I like the rule, especially as in this case where the kid has toiled for a school that refuses to give football the leeway they give basketball. Good for him, and good for all of those kids who graduate and take advantage.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the most productive football programs in the conference based on players in the NFL, longevity, and productivity are Florida State, Miami, and.....North Carolina? Yeah.....it's why I've disliked the last two UNC coaches so much. Talent has really never been the long term problem at North Carolina. Coaches who know what to do with the talent has been. We'll see if Bunting has it straight this year.

John Delong of the Winston-Salem Journal - "In college football, there is no way to beat the band."

StateFansNation brings you Amato on the Hot Seat? We don't really think so, but if he loses to North Carolina again and continues to underperform in front of the home crowd, the seat could warm up quickly. Get over there!

Micky Plyler's TigerNet Blog takes stock of Clemson's fall camp. I've heard great things from Clemson fans and am looking for big things from these Tigers. Get over there!!

Miami's rookie O-line tries to bulk up, build bonds :"It almost has become a daily ritual at University of Miami practices."

Hurricanes' Rutledge will not be babied

Depleted UM receivers rely on youngsters:" Where have all Miami's playmakers gone?"

Weatherford-Davis duo certain to be powerful:"Chris Davis and Drew Weatherford were already a good combination a year ago for FSU. But plenty of work in the offseason and a solid preseason have the two clicking at an even higher level."

54-yard FG gets FSU's attention :"A chorus of "good job" and "that a boy" echoed through an empty Doak Campbell Stadium during Tuesday morning's scrimmage. Gary Cismesia had just made a 54-yard field goal. His longest kick in a game was a 49-yarder against Duke last season."

Say uncle:"Whenever Phillip Merling needed firm guidance, Chris Rumph has been there. Now the uncle and nephew are at Clemson as coach and player."

Offense runs over Tiger defense: "Offensive squad provides all the highlights in final scrimmage of fall camp."

Linebacker Fokou's Efforts Earn Him a Maryland Scholarship

New line coach hopes Pack makes grade :"Former strength coach Pat Meyer has task of molding new faces into cohesive unit. He stressed that success takes football smarts, fundamental skills and toughness."

Pinigis bolts Cavs for hometown Flames: "Eddie Pinigis, second on the depth chart at right offensive tackle at Virginia, was looking for additional playing time." Look at what mommy had to say
"Eddie's not a quitter; Eddie's a starter," his mother said. "Coach Groh never liked him from Day 1. This thing with Will Barker has been set up for two years and we've got that from the horse's mouth. "When Eddie went in to see him, Coach Groh didn't beg him to stay. It was basically, '[Route] 29 south.' Thirty minutes after the meeting, he went down to his locker and it was already cleared out."
I LOVE Groh's response. Is this kid in trouble or what!?!?

Cavaliers Are Hurting on the Inside

"Sometimes they become nightmares," he said. "Some things I saw, like an old man getting hung in a tree and just left there to see day after day. People getting shot, and a gun being put to my head. Those are some of the things that come back." Good read.

Pack fans support Lowe :"In 1983, Sidney Lowe was a talented, popular point guard who helped steer N.C. State's basketball team to the national championship. On Tuesday night at the McKimmon Center, he was reminded again that his popularity among Wolfpack fans and friends hasn't waned." I mean, do they really have any other choice at this juncture?"

Krzyzewski Pushing U.S. Team Even Harder :"U.S. coach Mike Krzyzewski wants his squad to play even harder after two wins at the world basketball championships. Krzyzewski essentially has divided the players into two teams, and he's asking each to go all out for 20 or so minutes."

Jones 'shocked' by drug test:"Marion Jones broke her silence on her positive drug test Monday, saying she was startled by the result and wants the second sample examined quickly." Shocked....just shocked! If you don't sleep with drugies....you don't wake up with drugies, Mrs Jones. Really an unfortunate situation if it turns out to be true.

College of the Sequoias offensive coordinator Andy Siegal -- a former head coach at Miami Coral Park High -- said Monday morning that Williams didn't show up and wasn't expected to play football there." This gets worse by the day. Willie, please, enroll in class at Miami by Wednesday so that you can keep your scholarship this year and stay in school.

Seminoles revel in run-blocking :"Bobby Bowden lamented that his team didn't look "superior" in any particular area on Monday."

Dascenzo: Peppers perfect for Panthers :"If you've watched him long enough, anticipated when his next playmaking skill will take over a game, you will understand why Julius Peppers is invaluable on the Panthers' D-line." Yeah...he sure hates stopping the run, but the rest is great.

Hoping to diversify offense :"This season, the Pirates are looking to diversify Aundrae Allison's role in the offense and are hoping that another receiver emerges to complement Allison."
