Duke coach mulls decision : "Gail Goestenkors says she will need a few days to decide whether to take the women's basketball job at Texas. Students, alumni, fans and several members of the team hold a rally for the coach." Duke ought to just fire her. That program looses $500,000 a year or more. Duke University has been extremely good to her. This kind of grandstanding is unbecoming even to people like her mentor in pimping Duke, Coach K. It is especially unbecoming to a coach who doesn't fill her gym. Summitt can grandstand. Geno can grandstand. Their programs MAKE MONEY for the school. Coach G.......we don't mind you taking a look, but you don't publically get days to decide. Recognize!!!
Caulton Tudor of the Raleigh News and Observer - Should Devils spend the money?: "Duke University is in an awkward situation as Texas attempts to hire Blue Devils women's basketball coach Gail Goestenkors. " Basketbloggers survey says: NO! Don't be bullied into that type of decision at this time in the progression of the women's game. The cost/benefit is no where near in line with the mens game yet when it comes to paying the freight to keep a top line coach. That program is now established in a big way and can recruit itself with regard to players AND coaches. Hold the line, Devils.
