From the 50 Yard Line Blog:
Gailey a good fit for Duke?
Duke can get better: "Analysis: Duke commissioned the Fuqua School of Business to study 22 college programs to determine how it can improve its football program." We can do that right now. (1) Get over yourselves and hire a coach who you will allow to have 6-8 academic exceptions per year; (2) Publicly state that you will not go down that road, that you will hold to your guns and seek a coach with an offensive system that will make you competitive (See Paul Johnson at Navy) with the kids who you will continue to target (that's fine business, just come out and say it); or (3) Man up and lead the creation of a new "Southern Ivy League". Invite Navy, Army, Vandy, Baylor, Rice, Wake (although, they've gotten over themselves already and compete very well in ALL sports), Georgetown, and a few other pseudo Ivy's. Dominate in basketball, be competitive in football, and probably rule the roost in most of the other sports. You can still schedule all of the ACC in Basketball and UNC, State and Wake in football. Have your cake and eat it to!
If packaged properly, you would get a tone of support, a nice TV deal and probably a bowl tie in or two. The Ivy league has left a tone of money on the table by refusing to participate in the system over the year. Like it or not, there are not many brands more powerful globally than Harvard, Yale, and Princeton. Hey, we might be on to something!!!

Roof: Next Duke coach needs to 'get all the facts' : "On his way out the door, former Duke football coach Ted Roof was asked what advice he'd give to the man that will take his place on the sidelines next season." That's an interesting parting shot.
